Lemon Cake

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Sift Dry Ingredients:

  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar:

  • Fold in the lemon zest and fresh lemon juice until evenly distributed in the batter.

7. Divide and Bake:

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.

8. Bake in the Oven:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9. Make Lemon Glaze:

  • While the cakes are baking, prepare the lemon glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh lemon juice until smooth.

10. Cool and Glaze: – Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the lemon glaze over the cooled cakes.

11. Garnish (Optional): – Garnish with additional lemon zest if desired.
